Join our 2 week camp in Zermatt’s stunning mountains, and make memories to last a lifetime.
Get a taste of high-alpine adventure. Summit Base Camp is our accessible two-week camp designed to fit into your summer break. You’ll explore all four core sports — mountain biking, rock climbing, mountaineering, and hut-to-hut hiking— with expert guidance and a fun, supportive crew. Perfect for first-timers or anyone looking for a high-energy alpine experience without the long commitment.
The camp is packed full of adventures during the day, all led by Summit leaders or Mountain Guides. Come the evenings it’ll just be you and your fellow camp mates, whether you use the time to explore the town or recover from the days activities is up to you.
We have been delivering ski lessons in Zermatt since 2004. We are exciting to bring our years of experience and passion to our favourite summer sports too.
Our MTB leaders are all MIAS qualified, and give the participants the opportunity to achieve the MIAS GEARS (Personal Cycling Skills).
All mountaineering and climbing activities will be lead by an internationally qualified IFMGA Mountain Guide.
The course is aimed at 18 – 24 year olds and is scheduled to fit during northern hemisphere summer breaks.
Previous experience in any of the sports is not necessary, other than the ability to ride a bike on a paved surface.
The camp will be physically demanding, so participants should have a good base level of fitness.
For the duration of the camp, the group will have a Summit Mentor. The Mentor will be responsible for the following:
All sport specific gear rental is included in the camp fees, you just need to bring the kit you would normally take hiking.
For Summit Start, the only experience that’s required is the ability to ride a bike on a paved surface, no experience is required in downhill mountain biking, climbing or mountaineering. An average base level of fitness is required.
All Summit leaders and guides are fully qualified in their respective disciplines and hold up-to-date first aid certifications. Safety is at the core of everything we do — our team continuously assesses risk by matching group ability with activity demands and the surrounding terrain. While we take every precaution to manage risks, the mountain environment always carries an element of unpredictability. For this reason, we strongly recommend that all participants arrange personal travel insurance that includes coverage for mountain rescue and medical expenses.
